Camille Saint Saens
Camille Saint Saens was admired by Lisztand Gounod and taught Faure - working in Paris as a teacher and an organist at the Madeline. We have made our selection from his most famous shorter works. Sadly he seems to have felt that Le carnaval des animaux was too frivolous for a serious composer and restricted it's performance during his life time. The original orchestration has been greatly simplified with steel drums standing in for the strings and the pianos but the use of the marimba proved particularly effective in the Fossils piece.Carnival of the AnimalsFossils and Finaletranscribed and arranged on steel drums, marimba, bell and ocarina.
