French Impressionism - Music
There are strong parallels between the visual and musical Impressionist movements which seek to portray the atmosphere of scenes by bluring colour and tone. Debussy and Ravel are specificly identified with the musical movement as are Monet and Renoir in the visual sphere. We have also included contributions from Saint Saens and Faure who taught and worked with Debussy and Ravel as examples of they way in which this style developed in France. A more detailed description of French Ipressionism Music can be found a Wikipedia.
We seek to add value by presenting this music in new and exiting ways, freed from the technical constraints that applied to the composer but keeping faithful to the score although you could argue that our emphasis on percusion has closer parallels with pointilism rather than impressionism.
